5w0d - Migraine

5w0d and my head is killing me.

I could feel it starting last night as I got ready for bed. I took two Tylenol because that sometimes knocks it out.

Woke up at 6AM and it was actually worse. I got up and drank my first Diet Coke in over a week and took two more Tylenol. After a while, I managed to sleep a little longer. But it's STILL there.

Hopefully it is not brain swelling due to these fluid shifts with OHSS. I'm joking, mostly, but my sodium last Thursday was down to 130 (normal is 135-145.) When this occurs too quickly, brain swelling can develop. However, that is usually seen in cases where the sodium is in the 110s-120s, so I doubt that is what is going on...

My real concern is that this is due to some sort of massive hormonal shift. Usually I get migraines right around the day of ovulation or on the day of my period. If it IS due to hormones, I hope it is due to a RISE in pregnancy hormones, not a FALL. Still absolutely no pg symptoms, either. Weird, no??

I don't know what else to do for this pain. The Diet Coke and Tylenol usually work for me. Argh.

Don't worry about the lack of symptoms. I didn't really ever get m/s. Constipation kicked in around 6-7 weeks and has been my "friend" ever since. I also got headaches, but we eventually figured out that they were probably allergy related and claritin cleared them up. Tylenol does nothing for me. I sure hope this headache clears up for you soon!

I understand about the headaches. I've had them constantly since my bfp last wed so, i just keep popping Tylenol. I don't do caffeine it never worked for me. You know I am a migraine sufferer so these little headaches are nothing to me, I just hope they continue like that. Also, I have no symptoms either. I feel great today. No Nausea, nothing! Maybe when we get further along.

I remember reading that headaches are normal in early pregnancy. Hope it goes away!

I guess there's pluses and minuses to being a doctor... on the plus side, you're probably more in tune with why your body is behaving a certain way. On the minus side, I (not being a doctor) wouldn't really think about brain swelling as a cause of a headache! :) Seriously, I think headaches are a pretty common pregnancy symptom, so I wouldn't exactly say there's been NO symptoms for you! Isn't morning sickness supposed to kick in in a few weeks?

Take care of yourself!

Sometimes headaches can be a pregnancy symptom!

Sorry you're feeling bad. Hang in there.

I think it is common to get headaches in pregnancy. I have always suffered from migraines but I have been lucky not to get one since we have been pregnant. Don't worry about the lack of symptoms, I still really don't have any symptoms either.

Hey Sarah, about the smiley face in your comment on my blog. I think it's a Wordpress thing. You probably typed in a little "wink" with the semicolon and closed parenthesis, and Wordpress translates that into a real smiley face with a wink. I've been surprised to see it pop up too!

Ouch, I hope your migraines go away soon. I had quite a few of them right after our IVF, until a few weeks ago. I hope yours end quickly!

I've been getting those on and off as well. If you feel comfortable (and if your doc allows it) turning off all the lights in the bathroom (with a candle lit, usually) and taking a bubble bath really seems to help for some reason.

Hey, where are you? Is everything okay?

Just wanted to say thanks very much for checking out my blog!! :)

Do you think it's possible that maybe, as a doctor, you might be overthinking the whole brain-swelling thing?? ;)

Hope you are feeling better. Please keep in touch.

Are you eating well? Eliminate any huge blood sugar swings with small healthy meals. Hope you are feeling better!
Have a happy week!
